Service Description

Love Nature - Love Fabrics - Love the Outdoors Learn what colours are hiding in our hedgerows! You will arrive at the camp on Wednesday afternoon/evening. Thursday 10am will be the beginning of the workshop, starting with a wander to forage then create our dye baths before adding our fabric. There will also be time to experiment with additional techniques - such as shibori and mud printing as well as learning how to combine colours for your final piece. The camp ends on Friday at 4pm. We hope there will also be lots of time for swimming and campfires! All textile materials are provided - though do please bring your own fabric to experiment with if you wish. By the end of the workshop you will have made your own natural dye recipe book, as well as a large piece of dyed fabric to take home with you. You will learn how to identify seasonal dye plants that are growing on these beautiful sand, clay and river soils, and to make up a wide range of dye baths, and also to use mordants and after-baths to create a wonderful range of patterns and colours. We also hope to show you mud and mordant printing as well as shibori and indigo dyeing. The aim of this workshop is to give you the confidence to work seasonally, locally and sustainably and to learn more about this beautiful landscape. You will come away with a Seasonal Dye and Recipe Book as well as the knowledge to create your own patterned fabrics in harmony with nature, as well as have a fabulous time in this very special place. CAMPING Camping is open from 2pmWednesday 26th allowing plenty of time to set up camp, take a walk or swim & enjoy the first night around the campfire. Tents or Campervan are preferred, there will be a minimum availability for Caravans. You will be required to bring all of your own camping equipment and food. Enjoy some campfire cooking. Sarah and Alice run their own Natural Dye and Block Print Workshop and have been teaching their Wild Textiles Foraging and Dyeing workshops for many years. This is their first camp. Please do join us for this special experience. www.sarahburnspatterns.com insta @patternmakers
